{"id":13456,"date":"2014-12-08T19:32:45","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T14:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mayapurvoice.com\/svagatam\/?p=13456"},"modified":"2016-02-23T20:12:52","modified_gmt":"2016-02-23T14:42:52","slug":"controversy-over-taj-mahals-origins-in-limelight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayapurvoice.com\/svagatam\/controversy-over-taj-mahals-origins-in-limelight\/","title":{"rendered":"Controversy over Taj Mahal&#8217;s origins comes into National limelight"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_HTStoryPageControl_strytext\">The controversy over the origins of Taj mahal has gone political with Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Laxmi Kant Bajpai on Sunday saying that Mugal emperor Shah Jahan \u201cpurchased a part of Tejo Mahalaya temple\u2019s land from Raja Jai Singh\u201d, and claimed that he had documents to prove it.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Recently Azam Khan, a Samajwadi Party leader, had reportedly said that the famed mausoleum should be declared a property of the state\u2019s Waqf Board. He, at a convention of \u2018mutawallis\u2019 (caretakers) had asked the chairman of State Sunni Central Waqf Board to make Taj Mahal a property of the board and appoint him as \u2018mutwalli\u2019.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Referring to the incident, The BJP chief of UP, Mr Bajpai, alleged, \u201cAzam Khan has usurped property of Waqf and was now eyeing the world heritage Taj Mahal.\u201d \u201cAzam\u2019s dream to offer namaz five times at Taj will never be fulfilled,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>All India Shia Personal Law Board spokesperson, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, said,\u00a0 \u201cAs far as Mumtaz Mahal is concerned, she was a Shia, but Taj Mahal is heritage of the country and it<\/div>\n<p>should not be handed over to Sunni or Shia boards.\u201d \u201c If the issue of handing Taj Mahal to the Waqf board is raised then Shia and Sunni will come face to face, therefore it should be kept away from the tussle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>There has been a lot of research work done on this subject matter claiming that Taj mahal is indeed made out of an ancient Shiva shrine.
