Just as one cannot see the president of a country without going through the process outlined by the government, considering the Vedas as the highest authority, God cannot be seen, perceived or even understood unless we follow the process given in the Vedas to know Him.<\/p>\n One may ask why only Vedas? What about Quran, Bible and other scriptures? A simple answer is, while other scriptures do\u00a0talk about God, the Vedas give amazingly accurate\u00a0and in-depth\u00a0information on God. \u00a0As mentioned above, Veda describe God’s transcendental attributes, His eternal abode, His pastimes, His various energies and their functions like creation, maintenance and annihilation of innumerable universes and so on. Vedas show us how God\u2019s expansions appear, why they appear and when they appear. Vedas also give a complete education on how to achieve God’s abode, blissfully be with Him, render loving devotional unto Him, and how God magnanimously reciprocates with His devotees\u2019 service attitude. Vedas give a fascinating yet scientific description of both material and spiritual worlds. And no surprise they are capable of delivering such knowledge as Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita (15.15): “By all the Vedas, I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedanta, and I am the knower of the Vedas.”<\/p>\n It may not be considered a fault if the word “God” sounds like an imagination to some. In fact this is expected of conditioned souls, as Lord Krishna, who, according Vedic scriptures, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, declares in Bhagavad Gita –\u00a0naham prakasah sarvasya\u00a0yoga-maya-samavrtah\u00a0mudho ‘yam nabhijanati\u00a0loko mam ajam avyayam<\/em>, meaning “I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am covered by My internal potency, and therefore they do not know that I am unborn and infallible.”<\/p>\n Vedic scriptures unanimously declare Lord Krishna as the Supreme Lord, but to know that Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is generally known by historians as a saintly person who propagated the cult of\u00a0prema bhakti<\/em>, or loving devotional service, is none other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, is certainly an exciting revelation.<\/p>\n In the following lines we bring to you a compilation\u00a0of verses from Vedic scriptures that predict Lord Krishna’s advent as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Kaliyuga, in Sri Mayapur, during this period. You can see it for yourself how the Vedic scriptures predicted all detail of God’s arrival and how accurately Sri\u00a0Chaitanya Mahaprabhu matched the description. The overwhelming number of evidences make the text a little\u00a0long but it’s worth reading if you are serious about this most important subject matter. Sanskrit verses are followed by their translation, and explanation as applicable.<\/p>\n Sriptures quoted are:\u00a0Bhagavat Purana | Adi Purana | Kurma Purana | Garuda Purana | Narasimha\u00a0Purana | Padma Purana | Narada Purana | Brahma Purana | Bhavisya Purana |\u00a0Agni Purana | Matsya Purana | Vayu Purana | Markandeya Purana | Varah\u00a0Purana | Vaman Purana | Upa Purana | Ananta Samhita | Mahabharat |\u00a0Atharva Ved | Sama Ved | Chaitanya Upanishad | Chandogya Upanishad |\u00a0Svetasvatar Upanishad | Purusa-Bodini-Upanisad<\/p>\n In the Adi-Puran and in the Narada Puran, the Supreme Lord says:<\/p>\n aham eva dvija-srestho\u00a0nityam pracchanna-vigrahah<\/em> I shall advent in the form of a Brahmana devotee [aham eva dvija-srestho] and I shall hide my factual identity [prachanna vigrahah]. I shall deliver all the worlds [lokam raksami sarvada].<\/p>\n In the Upa-Puranas, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri\u00a0Krishna speaks to Srila Vyasadeva:<\/p>\n aham eva kvacid brahmansannyasa asramam asritah<\/em> O Brahmana, I occasionally take the Sannyas Asram [sannyasa asrama\u00a0asritah] in an attempt to bring the fallen people of Kali Yuga to take\u00a0up the path of Bhakti or devotional service to Lord Krishna [hari\u00a0bhaktim grahayami].<\/p>\n In the Kurma-Purana, it is stated:<\/p>\n kalina dahyamanam\u00a0uddhararaya tanu-bhrtam<\/em> The Supreme Person will appear in the first part of the age of Kali\u00a0[janma prathama sandhyayam]. He will appear in the home of a Brahmana\u00a0[bhavisyati dvijalaye], to save the embodied conditioned souls\u00a0[uddharaya tanu-bhrtam] burning in the troubles of Kali-Yuga.<\/p>\n In the Garuda-Purana, the Supreme Person says:<\/p>\n kalina dakyamananam\u00a0paritranaya tanu-bhrtam<\/em> In the first part [prathama sandhya] of the age of Kali, I will come\u00a0among the brahmanas [karisyami dvijatisu] to save the fallen souls,\u00a0[paritranaya tanu-bhrtam] who are being burned by the troubles of the\u00a0age of Kali [kalina dahyamananam].<\/p>\n In the Garuda-Purana, the Supreme Lord says:<\/p>\n aham purno bhavisyami\u00a0yuga-sandhyau visesatah<\/em> I will take birth as the son of Sachi [bhavisyami sachi sutah], in\u00a0Navadvip-Mayapur [mayapure navadvipe]. I will come in my complete\u00a0spiritual form in the first part of Kali-Yuga.<\/p>\n In the same Garuda-Purana, it is Also stated:<\/p>\n kaleh prathama sandhyayam\u00a0lakshmi- kanto bhavisyati<\/em> In the first part of Kali-Yuga, the Supreme Personality of Godhead\u00a0will come in a gold-like form. First He will become the husband of\u00a0Lakshmi [Srimati Lakshmi Devi, Lord Chaitanya\u2019s first wife]. Then He\u00a0will become a sannyasi, near Lord Jagannatha who will appear in a\u00a0divine wooden form.<\/p>\n In the Nrsimha-Purana, it is said:<\/p>\n satye daitya-kuladhi-nasa-samaye\u00a0simhordhva-martyakrtis<\/em> The Supreme Personality of Godhead who in the Satya-Yuga appeared as\u00a0a half-man, half-lion to cure a terrible disease that had ravaged the\u00a0daityas, and who in the Treta-Yuga appeared as a person named Rama\u00a0[Lord Ramachandra], the person who defeated the ten-headed Demon\u00a0Ravana, and who in the Dvapara-Yuga removed the earth\u2019s burden, and\u00a0protected the Gopa [cowherd men] people of Vraja-pura, will appear\u00a0again in the Kali-Yuga. His form will be golden, He will delight in\u00a0chanting the Lord\u2019s holy names, and His name will be Chaitanya.<\/p>\n In the Padma-Purana, it is said:<\/p>\n yatrayogesvarah saksad\u00a0yogi-cintyo janardanah<\/em> The Supreme Personality, Janardana, who is the object of the yogis\u2019\u00a0meditation [yogi-chintyo- janardanah], who saves the devotees from\u00a0various sufferings, and who is the master of all yogic practices\u00a0[yogesvarah], who is always full of divine transcendental ecstasy and\u00a0bliss [sandra-ananda-atmakah], will advent in His own divine form of\u00a0Sri Chaitanya [Chaitanya-vapah].<\/p>\n In the Padma-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself states:<\/p>\n kaleh prathama-sandhyayam\u00a0gaurangotham mahi-tale<\/em> I shall appear on this earth [mahi-tale] in the first part of\u00a0Kali-Yuga [kaleh prathama sandhyayam] in a beautiful place on the bank\u00a0of the Bhagirathi [bhagirathi-tate ramye]. I shall have a golden form\u00a0[gaurangah], and I shall take birth as the son of Sachi [bhavisyami\u00a0sachi-sutah].<\/p>\n In the Narada-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead says:<\/p>\n aham eva kalau vipra\u00a0nityam prachanna-vigrahah<\/em> O Vipra, in the age of Kali, I will come disguised [nityam prachanna\u00a0vigraha] as a devotee [bhagavad-bhakta-rupena] and I will save all the\u00a0worlds [lokan raksami sarvada].<\/p>\n The Supreme Personality of Godhead states in the Narada-Purana:<\/p>\n divija bhuvi jayadhvam\u00a0jayadhvam bhakta rupinah<\/em> O Divija (demigods), please come and advent as devotees on this earth\u00a0[bhuvi jayadhvam jayadhvam] in the age of Kali-Yuga. I will incarnate\u00a0as the son of Sachi [bhavisyami sachi-sutah] to inaugurate the\u00a0congregational chanting of the name of Krishna [kalau sankirtana\u00a0arambhe].<\/p>\n In the Brahma-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead says:<\/p>\n kaleh prathama sandhyayam\u00a0gaurangotham mahi-tale<\/em> I will reveal my eternal golden form [gaurangotham mahi-tale] in the\u00a0first part of Kali- Yuga [kaleh prathama sandhyayam]. I will advent on\u00a0the earth on the bank of the Bhagirathi [bhagirathi-tate bhumni] as\u00a0son of Mother Sachi [bhavisyami sachi-sutah].<\/p>\n In the Bhavisya-Purana, the Supreme Lord says:<\/p>\n anandasru-kala-roma\u00a0harsa-purnam tapo-dhana<\/em> O austere sage, you should know that in the age of Kali, everyone will\u00a0see my transcendental form as a sannyasi [kalau sannyasa rupinam]. I\u00a0will be exhibiting symptoms of ecstasy like shedding tears of bliss\u00a0and hairs standing in ecstasy [anandasru-kala-roma-harsa-purnam].<\/p>\n In the Agni-Purana, it is said:<\/p>\n prasantatma lamba-kanthas\u00a0<\/em>gaurangas ca suravrtah<\/em><\/p>\n The Supreme Personality of Godhead will come in a golden form\u00a0[gaura-anga], full of peace [prasantatma], and a beautiful long neck\u00a0[lamba-kanthah]. He will be surrounded by many saintly devotees\u00a0[sura-avrtah]. (Note: This is an indirect prediction of the future advent of the\u00a0members of the Pancha-Tattva.)<\/p>\n In the Matsya-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead says:<\/p>\n mundo gaurah su-dirghangas\u00a0tri-srotas-tira-sambhavah<\/em> In the age of Kali, I shall advent [bhavisyami kalau yuge] where the\u00a0three rivers meet [tri-srotas-tira-sambhavah]. I shall have a shaven\u00a0head [mundah]. I shall have a golden complexion [gaurah]. I will be\u00a0very kind and always chant the holy name of Krishna [dayaloh\u00a0kirtana-grahi].<\/p>\n In the Vayu-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead states:<\/p>\n suddho gaurah-su-dirghango\u00a0ganga-tira-samudbhavah<\/em> In the age of Kali-Yuga, I shall come [bhavisyami kalau yuge] in a\u00a0place on the bank of the Ganges [ganga-tira-samudbhavah]. I will be\u00a0very pure [suddhah], have a golden complexion [gaurah], and be very\u00a0tall [su-dirghangah] and chant the holy names of Krishna. [Vyau Puran\u00a0next quote]<\/p>\n In the Markandeya-Purana, the Supreme of Godhead declares:<\/p>\n golokam ca parityajya\u00a0lokanam trana-karanat<\/em> In the Kali-Yuga, I will leave Goloka and, to save the people of the\u00a0world, I will become the handsome and playful Lord Gauranga.<\/p>\n In the Varaha-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead declares:<\/p>\n aham eva dvija-srestho\u00a0lila-pracurya-vigrahah<\/em> I shall come as the best of the brahmanas [aham eva dvija-srestha]. I\u00a0will exhibit many pastimes [lila-pracurya-vigrahah] in the form of a\u00a0devotee [bhagavad-bhakta-rupena]. I shall deliver the people of the\u00a0world [lokan raksami sarvada].<\/p>\n In the Vamana-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead declares:<\/p>\n kali-ghora-tamas-channat\u00a0sarvan acara varjitan<\/em> O Narada Muni, I will take birth in the womb of Sachi [sachi-garbhe ca\u00a0sambhuya]. I shall save the people, who will give up all proper good\u00a0conduct [sarvan acara varyitan], from the terrible darkness of the age\u00a0of Kali-Yuga [kali-ghora-tamas-channan].<\/p>\n In the Vayu-Purana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead says:<\/p>\n paurnamasyam phalgunasya\u00a0phalguni-rksa-yogatah<\/em> svarnadi-tiram asthaya\u00a0navadvipe janasraye<\/em> bhakti-yoga-pradanaya\u00a0lokasyanugrahaya ca<\/em> tena lokasya nistaras\u00a0tat kurudhvam mamajnaya<\/em> I shall advent in the month of Phalguna, when the star Phalguni is\u00a0conjoined with the full moon. I shall incarnate in a golden complexion\u00a0in the womb of Sachi and Purandara Misra. I will be born in the city\u00a0of Navadvipa,on the Ganges\u2019s shore, in a Brahmana\u2019s family. I shall\u00a0take the renounced order of life [sannyasa] and show kindness to the\u00a0people in general and engage them in Bhakti. I will be known as Sri\u00a0Krishna Chaitanya. All of you should follow My order and deliver the\u00a0people of the world. I shall appear as a Brahmana. I shall make this\u00a0earth fearless.<\/p>\n In the Ananta-Samhita, it is said:<\/p>\n svarnadi-tiram asritya\u00a0navadvipe dvijalaye<\/em> \u201cTo show mercy to the people and give them devotional service, the\u00a0Supreme Personality of Godhead will appear in a Brahmana\u2019s home in\u00a0Navadvip by the Ganges\u2019 shore. The Supreme Person, Sri Krishna\u00a0Himself, who is the life of Srimati Radharani, and is the Lord of the\u00a0universe in creation, maintenance, and annihilation, appears as\u00a0Gaura, O Mahesvari.<\/p>\n In Kali-Yuga, I will descend to the earth with My associates. In\u00a0Navadvip, which is surrounded by the Ganges, I will take birth in\u00a0Sachi-devi\u2019s womb.<\/p>\n They who are bewildered by My illusory potency will not understand the\u00a0great secret of the appearance in this world of Me\u00a0in My personal\u00a0form, This secret is not to be revealed to them. Only the saintly, pure,\u00a0renounced devotees, diligently engaged in My devotional service, will\u00a0be able to understand Me in these five forms.<\/p>\n My dear male and female associates, headed by Sridama and Subala, who\u00a0came to this world at the time of My advent as Lord Krishna, will come\u00a0again during the Kali-Yuga.<\/p>\n The Gopas will become the sixtyfour mahantas and the twelve gopalas.\u00a0To establish the truth of religion, I will enjoy many pastimes with\u00a0them.<\/p>\n In this way I will again reveal the path of devotional service, which\u00a0has been destroyed in the course of time. My sons should also descend\u00a0to the earth, assume the forms of devotees, and, by My order, also\u00a0work to re-establish the principles of true religion.<\/p>\n At this time My names will be: Krishna Chaitanya, Gauranga,\u00a0Gaurachandra, Sachisuta, Mahaprabhu, Gaura and Gaurahari. Chanting\u00a0these names will bring devotion to Me.\u201d<\/p>\n The Great Epic Mahabharata (Dana-Dharma, Visnu-Sahasra-Nama Stotra)\u00a0points out the divine characteristics of Sriman Mahaprabhu\u2019s\u00a0appearance.<\/p>\n suvarna varna hemango\u00a0varangas candanangadi<\/em> He has\u00a0a golden complexion [suvarna varnah]. His limbs are very beautiful\u00a0[vara-anga] and are smeared with sandalwood pulp [candana-angadi]. He\u00a0has the appearance of molten gold [hema-anga].<\/p>\n The Supreme Lord Chaitanya accepts the renounced order of life\u00a0[sannyasa-krt]. He is fully sense-controlled or equipoised [sama], and\u00a0is completely peaceful [santa]. He is completely fixed (in the chanting\u00a0of the holy name of Lord Krishna), [nistha]. He is the highest abode of\u00a0devotion and transcendental peace. (He silences the mayavadi\u00a0impersonalists) [nistha santi parayanah].<\/p>\n The sanskrit words suvarna-varna indicate one who has gold-like\u00a0complexion. The Vedic text to support this point is:\u00a0yada pasya pasyate rukma-varnam\u00a0kartaram isam purusam brahma-yonim.\u00a0The words rukma-varnam kartaram isam refer to the Supreme Person [Sri\u00a0Chaitanya] who has a complexion like molten gold.<\/p>\n In the Atharva-Veda; Purusa-Bodini-Upanisad, it is said:<\/p>\n saptame gaura-varna-visnor ity aena sva-saktya<\/em> \u201cIn the seventh manvantara, in the beginning of the Kali-Yuga, the\u00a0Supreme Personality of Godhead will, accompanied by His own\u00a0associates, descend in a golden form to the earth. He will teach the\u00a0chanting of His own names.\u201d<\/p>\n In the Atharva Veda, the Supreme Person says:<\/p>\n itotham krta sannyaso\u2019vatarisyami sa-guno nirvedo<\/em> I will descend on the earth after the passage of four thousand years\u00a0in the Kali-Age, [kalau chatuh sahasrabdhopari] and before the passage\u00a0of five thousand years [pancha sahasra abhyantare].\u00a0I will come on the earth on the bank of the Ganges, [tira-sthah In the Sama Veda, the Supreme Lord says:<\/p>\n tathaham krta sannyaso bhu-girvano \u2018vatarisye<\/em> I shall come to the earth, accompanied by My associates, in a place by\u00a0the bank of the Ganges. I will advent to save the people who are\u00a0afflicted and devoured by the sins of the age of Kali. I will manifest\u00a0as an Avadhut Brahman Sannyasi.<\/p>\n The Chandogya Upanisad describes the place of advent of the Supreme\u00a0Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya.\u00a0In the Sabadvipa Dham\u00a0Mahatmya (text 5) Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur explains:<\/p>\n tan-madhye daharam saksan\u00a0mayapuram itiryate<\/em> The spiritual city in the shape of a lotus has the abode of Sri\u00a0Mayapur as its heart. Sridham Mayapur is the divine abode of Lord\u00a0Chaitanya, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In the middle of\u00a0Mayapur is the place called Antardvip.<\/p>\n The Svetasvatara Upanisad (Ch. 6, text 7) describes the qualities\u00a0of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Chaitanya:<\/p>\n tam isvaranam paramam mahesvaram\u00a0tam devatanam paramam ca daivatam<\/em> \u201cO Supreme Lord, you are the Supreme Mahesvara, the worshipable Deity\u00a0of all the demigods and the Supreme Lord of all Lords. You are the\u00a0controller of all controllers, the Personality of Godhead, the Lord of\u00a0everything worshipable.\u201d<\/p>\n Svetasvatara Upanisad Ch 3 text 12, 14<\/p>\n mahan prabhur vai purusahsattvasyaisa pravartakah<\/em> \u201cThe Supreme Personality of Godhead is Mahaprabhu, who disseminates\u00a0transcendental enlightenment. Just to be in touch with Him is to be in\u00a0contact with the indestructible brahmajyoti. \u201d<\/p>\n Sri Chaitanya Upanisad (Chaitanyopanisad), text 5:<\/p>\n jahnavi-tire navadvipe golokakhye dhamni govindo<\/em> \u201cThe Supreme Personality of Godhead, Govinda, the supreme enjoyer,\u00a0whose form is transcendental, who is beyond the touch of the three\u00a0modes of material nature, and who is all pervading Supersoul residing\u00a0in the-hearts of all living entities, will appear again in the\u00a0Kali-age. Appearing as the greatest devotee, the Supreme Personality\u00a0of Godhead will assume a two-armed form of golden complexion in His\u00a0abode of Goloka Vrindavan manifested on the bank of the Ganga at\u00a0Navadvip. He will disseminate pure devotional service in the world.<\/p>\n Sri Chaitanya Upanisad text 6 says in what color the Lord will appear in the Kali-yuga, and what He will do:<\/p>\n eko devah sarva-rupi mahatma\u00a0gauro rakta syamala-sveta-rupah<\/em> \u201cThe Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the master of all\u00a0transcendental potencies, and who may be known only by devotional\u00a0service, [bhakti vedyah] appears in innumerable transcendental forms.\u00a0He has appeared in red, white and black complexions, [gauro rakta\u00a0syamala sveta rupah] and He will also appear in the golden form of Sri\u00a0Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He will assume the role of a perfect devotee Chaitanya Upanisad, text 7 predicts the nature of the form of Lord Chaitanya and how He is understood<\/p>\n namo vedanta vedyayakrmaya paramatmane<\/em> I offer my respectful obeisances unto Him, who is understood by Vedanta [namo vedanta vedyaya], who is Lord Krishna [Krishnaya], the\u00a0Supersoul [paramatmane], whose form is fully transcendental and\u00a0conscious of everything [sarva-chaitanya-rupaya]. We offer our humble\u00a0obeisances again and again. [chaitanyaya namo namah]<\/p>\n Sri Chaitanya-Upanisad. text 8:<\/p>\n vedanta vedyam purusam puranam\u00a0chaitanyatmanam visva-yonim mahantam<\/em> \u201cKnowing Him who is the object of knowledge in the Upanisads, the\u00a0oldest person, the embodiment of consciousness, the source of the\u00a0universe and the greatest of all, one crosses over death. There is no\u00a0other path for going there.\u201d<\/p>\n Sri Chaitanya-Upanisad. text 9:<\/p>\n sva-nama mula-mantrena sarvam hladayati vibhuh<\/em><\/p>\n The Supreme powerful [vibhuh] Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya appears in\u00a0His golden form, and He will fill the universe with bliss [hladayati] by the chanting of His own holy names [sva-nama-mula-mantrena].<\/p>\n Which mantra will this yuga avatar chant?<\/em><\/p>\n Sri Cartanya Upanisad text 10.<\/p>\n sa eva mula-mantra japati harir iti krishna iti rama iti<\/em><\/p>\n Sri Krishna Chaitanya will chant the maha-mantra comprised of the\u00a0divine names of Hari, Krishna and Rama, i.e.,\u00a0Hare Krishna Hare Krishna\u00a0Krishna Krishna Hare Hare\u00a0Hare Rama Hare Rama\u00a0Rama Rama Hare Hare.<\/p>\n Srila Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, one of the foremost disciples of Sri\u00a0Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Jagannath Puri, composed an entire series of\u00a0prayers describing in detail the various features of Sri Chaitanya\u00a0Mahaprabhu, called Sri Gauranga-Prati-Anga-Varnanakhya-Stava-Rajah, or\u00a0the King of Prayers, proclaiming the glory of each limb of Sri\u00a0Gauranga. Let us carefully present a few of these divine gems.<\/p>\n Lord Chaitanya\u2019s bodily luster:<\/p>\n Srila Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, a great scholar of his time, who later became a disciple of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, has described the complexion of Sri\u00a0Chaitanya Mahaprabhu\u2019s body.<\/p>\n tapta hema dyutim vande\u00a0kali-krishnam jagad-gurum<\/em> I worship Lord Krishna, the spiritual master of the universe, who\u00a0appears in the age of Kali with a luster like molten gold. His body is\u00a0beautiful and tall. In the age of\u00a0Kali, they worshipped the Supreme Person by the regulation of the\u00a0scriptures [tantra vidhana].<\/p>\n krishna varnam tvisakrmam sangopangastra parsadam<\/em> \u201cIn the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational\u00a0chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings\u00a0the holy name of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He\u00a0is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants,\u00a0weapons and confidential companions.\u201d<\/p>\n How does this verse refer to the advent of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, since his\u00a0name is not directly mentioned there?<\/p>\n Just as the symptoms and characteristics of the various previous\u00a0incarnations are mentioned in the scriptures, similarly the symptoms\u00a0of the appearance of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu are described.<\/p>\n Krishna-varnam indicates that He belongs to the category of Krishna. Krishna varnam also means one who constantly repeats and sings the\u00a0name of Krishna. The main business of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was the\u00a0chanting of the holy name of Krishna.
