Haryana governor says ISKCON a beacon of peace across the globe

When a government officer or political leader praises a charitable organization, especially those connected with religions or spirituality, it may need to be taken with a pinch of salt. However, when such individuals have no vested interest in what they speak, it may be safe to take their statement as truth.

Mr Kaptan Singh, the governor of Haryana recently said that ISKCON is a beacon of peace across the globe. We welcome this statement as it goes along the same lines that ISKCON’s founder-acharya A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada envisioned as ISKCON’s role in the world peace. He gave a simple and practical formula for achieving peace in the world:

"The conditioned souls within the clutches of the illusory energy are all anxious to attain peace in the material world. But they do not know the formula for peace, which is explained in this part of the Bhagavad-gita. The greatest peace formula is simply this: Lord Krishna is the beneficiary in all human activities. Men should offer everything to the transcendental service of the Lord because He is the proprietor of all planets and the demigods thereon. No one is greater than He. He is greater than the greatest of the demigods, Lord Siva and Lord Brahma. In the Vedas (Svetasvatara Upanishad 6.7) the Supreme Lord is described as tam isvaranam paramam mahesvaram. Under the spell of illusion, living entities are trying to be lords of all they survey, but actually they are dominated by the material energy of the Lord.
The Lord is the master of material nature, and the conditioned souls are under the stringent rules of material nature. Unless one understands these bare facts, it is not possible to achieve peace in the world either individually or collectively. This is the sense of Krishna consciousness: Lord Krishna is the supreme predominator, and all living entities, including the great demigods, are His subordinates. One can attain perfect peace only in complete Krishna consciousness." -Bhagavat Gita 5.29 purport

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today hailed the role played by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) for being a “beacon of peace across the globe”, even when governments and big organisations fail to put an end to global terrorism.

Speaking on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Krishna-Arjuna temple being built by ISKCON at Jyotisar in the district, Solanki said that this was the first time that a temple dedicated to both Lord Krishna and Arjuna was being built, an official release said.

It was on this holy land of Kurukshetra that Lord Krishna had delivered the celestial message of Bhagvad Gita to Arjuna, he said.

To get inner peace in life, a person would have to pursue the message of the Bhagvad Gita, he said, adding, “This temple will teach us that all devotees should be like Arjuna.”

“India is known all over the world for this message due to the efforts of ISKCON, which has propagated the message of the Gita to about 21 countries and distributed copies of the Bhagvad Gita among nearly 50 crore people. Dandavats | ISKCON a beacon of peace across the globe: Har Governor
